Privacy Policy - Screen Recorder Pro

Last updated: May 20, 2026

Recording, editing, and saving are local by default. We collect limited product analytics, verify paid licenses through our backend, and only receive recording or screenshot content when you choose a cloud feature such as share upload, transcript, summary, or screenshot upload.

What stays on your device

Your video and audio recordings, screenshots, edits, settings, preferences, and history live in Chrome's local storage (chrome.storage.local), IndexedDB, and your downloads folder on your computer unless you actively choose an upload or AI feature. Recording and exporting do not require sending your recording to our servers.

What we do collect (anonymous analytics)

When the extension is installed, used, or uninstalled, it sends a small product-analytics event to our server. Each event includes:

The events do not include the URL of the page you are on, the content of your recordings, your name, or your email. They may include feature names such as recording started, recording saved, paywall shown, checkout started, or license activated.

License and payment

If you upgrade to a paid plan, your device identifier is also used to verify your license against our screencapture.site backend. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see or store your card details. If you provide an email for a license, we store only that email and your plan.

Optional: recording upload, transcript, and summary

Some Pro features send content to our screencapture.site backend only after you click the relevant button:

Do not use these cloud features for recordings that contain confidential, regulated, or third-party personal data unless you are allowed to upload that content.

Optional: screenshot upload (user-initiated)

The screenshot editor includes an optional "Upload" button that uploads a screenshot you select to imgbb.com (a third-party image hosting service) and copies a public URL to your clipboard. This action only happens if you click that button.

Permissions and why we ask for them

This extension declares only the permissions it actually uses. Each is listed in the Chrome Web Store entry, and the reason is documented there.

Data we do NOT collect

Your rights
